• Kubernetes vs k8s: The gap here is massive. Employers ask for Kubernetes 50.4x more often than k8s.
• OpenTelemetry vs OTel: While engineers love saying OTel, employers write OpenTelemetry 16.5x more often in their JDs.
• SLO vs Service Level Objective: Here, the acronym wins! Employers ask for SLO 12.0x more often than the full phrase.
• Incident Response vs Incident Management: If your resume says you led "Incident Management", change it. Employers ask for Incident Response 2.4x more often.

How to Fix Your ATS Score

The parser doesn't care about your nuance; it cares about string matching. To survive the screen, you must align your vocabulary with the job description. If a JD asks for "OpenTelemetry", do not assume it will give you credit for "OTel".
