1. About these terms
These Referral Programme Terms govern participation in the Sharpen.cv referral and affiliate programme operated by [COMPANY LEGAL NAME] Ltd (“we”, “us”). They form part of, and should be read with, our Terms of Service and Privacy Policy. If there is any conflict on a referral matter, these terms take precedence. By generating or sharing a referral code, or enrolling as a partner, you accept these terms.
2. Who can take part
You must hold a Sharpen.cv account in good standing, or be approved by us as a partner (for example a bootcamp, course, instructor or career coach). You may not refer yourself, create accounts to claim your own discount or commission, or use the programme in a way that breaches our Terms of Service. We may approve, decline or remove any participant at our discretion.
3. How referrals are tracked
Each participant gets a unique referral code and link. When someone opens your link we store a referral cookie on their device for 30 days; a referral is attributed to you if that person makes a qualifying purchase while the cookie is present, or if your code is applied at checkout. If more than one code applies, the most recently applied code wins. We attribute and calculate commission using our own records, which are final absent manifest error.
4. The discount your referrals receive
Customers who use your code receive 15% off their purchase (applied automatically through the code, where configured). The discount applies as described at checkout and may be limited to the first payment depending on the offer.
5. How commission is earned
When a customer you referred makes a qualifying payment, you earn 20% of the net amount they actually pay us — that is, after any discount and excluding tax, and net of any refund. Qualifying payments include the one-off purchase and subscription payments. For subscriptions, commission can be earned on recurring payments up to a maximum of 12 payments per referred customer, after which no further commission accrues for that customer.
6. When commission becomes payable, and when we pay
This is the part that matters most, so we state it plainly:
- A commission is recorded as pending as soon as the referred customer pays.
- It only becomes payable once that payment is no longer refundable — after a 30-day refund/chargeback hold from the date of payment — and the payment has not been refunded or charged back.
- We pay out monthly. In practice, commission for a subscription or purchase made in one month is paid in the following month, once the 30-day hold has passed.
- We pay once your payable balance reaches at least £20. Amounts below the threshold roll over to the next payout.
- Payment is made by bank transfer or PayPal to the details you provide. You may be asked to confirm your details or supply an invoice before we pay.
7. Refunds, chargebacks and reversals
If a referred customer’s payment is refunded or charged back, the related commission is void and reversed. Because we only pay after the refund hold, this normally happens before any payout. If a commission was already paid and is later reversed (for example a delayed chargeback), we may deduct the equivalent amount from your future payouts or ask you to repay it.
8. Tax
Commission is paid gross. You are solely responsible for declaring and paying any tax due on your earnings, and for telling us your correct tax and payment details. Where required by law we may withhold tax or request tax information before paying.
9. Things you must not do
To keep the programme fair, you must not: refer yourself or use codes on your own account; spam, post misleading claims, or imply you are us; bid on our brand name in paid search or register confusingly similar domains; create fake accounts or fraudulent sign-ups; or otherwise manipulate tracking. Breach means we may withhold or reverse commission, remove your code, and end your participation.
10. Changes to or ending the programme
We may change these terms, the commission rate, the discount, or the programme itself, or end the programme, at any time — for example for legal, security or commercial reasons. Where a change materially affects you we will give reasonable notice. We will honour commission that has already become payable under the terms in force when it was earned. Changes are not retroactive to commission already accrued.
11. Our relationship
Taking part does not make you our employee, agent, partner or joint venturer. You have no authority to make commitments on our behalf, and you act as an independent party.
